CHARACTER DEATH
Welcome to the Character Death page. This is where you can let us know if your character has died. All you have to do is write your character's name and canon in the subject line, then how your character died in the meat of the comment.
Most of the time, nothing will happen! But sometimes, we'll end up giving the player a special note: something the character might've noticed while dead or something that happens post-death.

Connor / Detroit: Become Human
Connor died in the TDM of all things, mostly thanks to Connor-60 shooting him in the throat. Not sure if TDM deaths count but reporting it anyway o>

Let us know when Connor dies a little more. For now, enjoy unlocking the achievement: first death.

Yeah Connor was forced to pull out his own thirium pump regulator and died horribly on a rooftop.

All right, so. Connor will wake up, on the town center bench, just like before. And this time when he wakes up, he feels something in his pocket.
And when he reaches in, he'll find a note in his pocket. It reads:
The life and death cycle won't end so easily. His regulator isn't that easily replaced either.
Connor won't notice any changes, until someone points it out to him or until he takes a look in the mirror.
His eyes are no longer brown. They are hazel.
Connor-60 | Detroit: Become Human
Connor-60 is dying in the same thread—getting injured by protagonist!Connor, and then crushed to death inside the clinic.

(also please let me know if you'd rather I do a separate comment on the page for each)

So...Connor. you wake up on the benches, like last time, but this time something is different.
You feel the cool air, and the wet of the fog.
Congratulations. You now have nerves.
Which means you can also feel pain.

One thing to check: the question of "do androids feel pain" in dbh is a little ambivalent—nondeviant Connors say they don't, but different androids react differently, and later in the game, the less stable Connors start crying out or grimacing when injured. (-60 included.) I tend to headcanon that pain, like fear or other "human" reactions is something that develops from their regular "harm is bad" programming over time.
Which is to say: I've been RPing him as slowly developing (and furiously ignoring) a sense of pain already. Is that a problem here, or can I just assume he's jumping ahead to Full Pain Experience?
Other questions: does this new sensory perception actually give him new (non-pain) senses, such as taste, or is it more an enhanced experience with the sensors he has? And if he were to try examining his components/construction, would he find any physical changes?
no subject
The other senses, such as smell, taste, etc, are there but they're lagging behind a bit- so he can taste, faintly. Thirium might be a mixed bag of tastes too, so enjoy that!
Should he examine himself, he'll find that in his components, he has nerves wiring over his entire body. And if possible, he'll find that his regulator...well. It's still pumping thirium but it looks far more...like a human part then an android part. It's still mechanical, but the resemblance is unmistakable.
EDIT: We forgot to mention! He can feel pleasure as well, maybe more strongly then pain.
Enjoy!

Info hugely appreciated! A few follow-ups if you don't mind—
Are his new nerves susceptible to dulling via human methods (painkillers), or not so much, since his circulatory system/etc. isn't biological? (Regulator aside).
If he were to try to remove this extra "wiring", either manually or with technical (surgical?) help... how would that go? (Incredibly painfully is, of course, assumed.)

Also that would likely go very horribly. Whoever is performing the task would have to go to the RNG page and...there's a very good chance that if the roll goes poorly, it wouldn't be nerve damage per se, but difficulty using his limbs properly.

This is fantastic, though. Thanks again for all the info!

Regarding penalties: I'm not sure how seriously Admin meant the threats, but I'd OOCly prefer to avoid anything sexualized. (IC threats are 100% fine, and they can definitely alter his programming in other ways! Just no changes specifically Like That.)

Instead of the programming being overt, Connor is...going to notice something different. Physically, he hasn't changed, still has the nerves in his system and the ability to experience pain but instead...
He's not going to be able to recognize himself when he looks in the mirror. His reflection simply does not look like Himself; when he looks, he only sees a stranger.
When he sees the other Connor, he also looks different. Not the same kind of stranger- a different stranger, whose eyes are a beautiful hazel.
The voice would be a dead giveaway though.
Enjoy!

.....and oh wow that's a beautiful roadblock for him. :'D Thank you very much!

Picked a mindfuck fight with Doll, then got frozen and electrocution-tortured to death by Judar.

Connor wakes up in darkness, alone.
Light gradually comes to his eyes. And what he sees before him are two doors, and there is light on either side of them. When he tries them, he will find both of them are locked.
After he's tried both of the doors (including force), he will hear someone clear their throat.
It looks like Doll. Their robes are white, and their hands are loose at their sides. When Connor's attention is on them, it will recite the following:
"If you want to move forward, you will have to go through one of the doors. But the key is not made by hand; it is made of you. You will have to give a memory of Cyberlife and Amanda to make the key."
With those instructions given, the Doll vanishes, as does the dream. Connor wakes up on the bench, pristine and his body unchanged.
However, whenever he is about to commit a violent action, he is brought back to the place with the two doors. There are no guides. There is only a choice.

Followup questions! I... am sorry for their numerousness.
1) Are Connor-51's memories fair game for giving up?
2) Is there a difference between the two doors?
3) If he gives up a memory, can he commit the violent act? Or is he just brought immediately back if he keeps trying?
4) While he's in voidspace, does time pass outside? (If yes, what does it look like he's doing?)
5) How big is a "memory"? (A full scene, or just an aspect of one?)
6) He can't decide to not be violent after he's in voidspace, correct? Once he's there, the only way out is losing a memory?
7) Any violence triggers this? Or are there exceptions (e.g. monsterfighting, sparring, self-defense)?
8) Does "Cyberlife and Amanda" imply only Amanda interactions count? (He has far fewer of those than he does Cyberlife things.)
no subject
2) At this point, there doesn't seem to be.
3) Brought right back where he started.
4) Time passes, though slowly!
5) Aspects are fine!
6) Depends on if he regrets it! If he regrets his actions- not because he was caught, but genuinely regrets it- he can get out.
7) He can self defense and spar, but that's about it.
8) Nope, it means either one counts!

So Ethan will feel pain. It will feel acidic over his body at first; then it will settle to a weakening, like he's coming down with a cold.
But it fades after a few minutes, and there's a certainty that settles in his gut: He's not alone.
There's something that is watching him. Intently.
Congrats Ethan. You now have your own personal monitor, watching you.

It's a glove. And it's easy to dismiss the glove at first but...there's also a strange addition to the glove itself. It appears to be a pinkie finger, made of metal.
Should Xue Yang put the glove on, there will be a moment of disorientation, before he realizes something.
He can feel the sensation in the metal pinkie finger.
So from now on, if he's wearing the glove, he will be able to use the pinkie finger. It's as if his hand is entirely whole.
Enjoy!
